Evening gents and ladies

I have a 97my derv auto.

Have been out to her tonight to (the range rover i mean) and have used the spare key to check operation incase of a emergency, you know how tempermently these vehicles are!!!!

For starters the led in the blipper isnt illuminating (was 3 months ago) so i was unable to unlock via the central locking im suspecting a flat battery in the blipper, so unlocked manually and enter key in ignition and get engine disabled.

Now im assuming this is due to the blipper battery is flat so will get this changed and will then need to know how to code in the fob if this need doing. does anyone know this process or a link to it would be great!

it will start with the main key on the button it has a good battery on it!!!

i thought i would try the spare key as you do and know i have worried myself

any advice would be great many thanks in advanced

ps i have searched but it doesnt seem to return results like mine with only one key working other is not

You may have to re-sync the key, the instructions will be in your owners handbook, Later ones re-sync automatically.:)

Many thanks for that guys I will try and find the owners manual in my box of papers for the truck

Elsie I wouldn't sell it I love it to much I can post you the wifey for the cost of shipping her :p

There is a step missing from the handbook. When using the EKA you have to hold the key in the lock position for 10 seconds. Then go through the steps outlined in the manual. Without the missing first step all you do is just disable the vehicle for 30 minutes.

I had the same problem a few days ago - I changed the battery and followed the steps below and it worked - now my spare key is fully operational:

Close all car doors. Insert the spare key in the drivers side lock pressing and holding the button with the lock symbol. Turn the key to the left as if locking, still holding the lock button down. Hold in this position for 3 seconds. Turn back to the centre position and pull the key out - STILL HOLDING THE KEY BUTTON. Once the key is out release the lock button.
Now try the fob.
