When I got my Freelander it only came with 1 key but 2 remote fobs, If I get a blank key off ebay & get it cut will it need some sort of programming to enable it to start the car?

I think so. I inquired about a new key in Timpsons the other week and they put my key in a reader first to get the info off it to put on a new key. They then wanted £60 to code up a new one. I walked away as I have got two keys, but was passing Timpsons and thought it a good idea to get another spare. I'm not that desperate...

NO, just split the case and insert the newly cut blank and put the case back together .. job done unless u have a seperate fob not attached to a key. The key cutting place ie Timpsons may even have the blanks.
Have a look at Remotekeys site as they do show how to fit the blank maybe not for your vehicle but u get an idea.

I dont have a spare case or any form of second key,

I will need a complete key ordering & presumed like most newer cars it will have some form of transponder built into the platic housing of the key?

Freelander 1 or 2?
If your fobs are like a D1s two buttons plus a bit of chain and a key ring then your key is just a key so take it along to a key cutter and they will cut a new one to match that profile.

But if your fob is the top part of the blade transponder (F2) then just split the case and fit the blank.

Sainsbury's wouldn't cut me a blank for some reason they refused. I explained that I only wanted the new blade not the immo as the case is just manky, even said they could keep the old one and bin it if they wanted. Just got flat refusals. Anyone know someone that might be a bit more helpful? Somewhere online perhaps?

Will.
