sound deadening

i should think so but every disco i've had has lasted less than a day before being butchered for parts and i'm half deaf anyway.

If you have no leaks and you dont go wading you should be ok, the main reason people remove the sound proofing is when wet it acts like a soggy sponge and sitting on top of the steel floor it soon rots through, without it the wet carpet dries up much faster, it also acts as an underlay and adds comfort and it also as the name suggests proofs the cab from outside sound (and presumably acts as an insulation to a small degree). I recently removed mine as I have a sunroof leak which I havent got round to sorting yet and I must admit the road noise is much louder without it (almost like I havent closed the NS door properly), when I fix my leak as I plan on not getting it wet any time soon I will be refitting it.
