Hi all

For those that were following my diagnostic problem thread, im happy to say that i have solved the mystery, it was all tied to my battery drain issue as well. It turned out that the headlights are causing the issue, as soon as the headlights were unplugged the diagnostic system started working!!! :D Now all i have to do is get hold of a copy of the correct wiring diagram for the 2003-2006 headlight conversion, as there must be something wrong with the headlight wiring.

Thanks for all the advice.

Matt :)

And we thought P38s were complicated, troublesome and prone to throwing curved balls!! Can you imagine a dealer ever finding a fault like that? We'll be looking back at P38s in a few years and marvelling at their simplicity and ease of faultfinding and repair just as we do now with classics:rolleyes::D:D

Lol, tell me about it. I only unplugged the headlights really as a last resort type thing, had been working on it all day, and low and behold that was the issue all along

Anyway, that's for all your help, just got to fix the wiring issue now lol

Matt

Have a word with DCC 4x4 or someone like that, I was contemplating a 2010 facelift but decided not to bother when they said £3 to 4k to do it, they said the wiring loom/plugs would need changing for the headlights and rear lights when I spoke to them.

If your plugs have already been butchered it may make things a little trickier

Nice work Matt. It's interesting how lights managed to pull down the diagnostics. These upgrades are going to be very popular in the next few years as the L322s get within the reach of us mere mortals. Can I assume you are going to submit your info to Range Rover.Net or your excellent blog ? I feel this is going to become a common occurrence and it's important the information doesn't get lost in the general forum along with the countless eas faults and overheating diesels.

Well done in respect of finally deducing the true source of your problem.
I know it has been a bit of a long trial for you.

In any BUS based communication system, Be it the Later 05 on CAN bussed based, earlier L322 DS2 BMW bus based, or even earlier ISO 9141 P38 based, it only takes one node on that Bus to have a pig on and stuff it all up for the rest.

Hi BBS,

Thanks for all your advice and the offer of the discount, will be ordering as soon as I have sorted the headlight wiring out. Just been reading your thread on rangerovers.net about the upgrade you are doing on the entertainment system in your range rover. Would you be able to keep us up to date on here, I am really interested in doing the touch screen upgrade myself if you got it working.

Matt

Hiya there Matt
You are most welcome, and to be honest, i would be most happy to have you finally and fully be aboard the BBS MSV-2 equipment train. You will surely appreciate all the many capabilities and features it provides.

I did post up here about my major L322 infotainment upgrade project, but unlike the other 2 forums i also did so, it quickly went cold. I will however post up links on it to the Projects web site when it goes live next week.
But in the meantime unless you missed the latest status update here is a piccy showing where we are currently at with it. Ie fully programmed and working on the bench with DVD changer output on one of the RSE controlled rear head rest displays
