hi fellas,

another topic from me, did a search but nothing came up for this problem.

The s3 109 2.25 petrol turns over and starts, with massive plumes of smoke coming out the arse-end. it will idle for about 20seconds before coughing its nuts off and dieing. if i keep my foot planted on the throttle it will smoke less but still die after a while.

played with the carb and it helped to a point, running too rich and fouling the spark plugs. so its not burning off the fuel quick enough!

any one got any solutions? anything that you have experienced before? it will need new plugs soon but nothing to stop this from happening.

cheers fellas

It's darkish, not dead black but dark! Sounds rough as fook wen it's at full throttle!

Cheers

pm on way mate :D:D

Burnt oil is usually bluish, black smoke is usually a fuel problem. What carb is fitted? Could be warped body but the sudden onset is more likely to be stuck float or float needle.
Unless the head gasket has gone and you're pumping out oil mist and steam. Check for the usual signs of failure just in case.

Well fellas, thanks to johnny curt, it's feeling a lot better. Carb wasn't warped or anything like that. Just need several bolts on manifold tightening up.
