hi folks i get a slight clunk from the rear of my 99 deisel f.l. when i pull away and some friction from the front wheels on full lock any clues please

rear brake shoes can stick on slightly

the rear diff mounts may be worn

the resistance you feel on full lock is a normal condition of the transmission, this will only cause problems if it is excessively tight

Drag in the drive train is normal due to the VCU. If the wheels skip and hop it's seized. I expect the rear dif's front mount could be worn!!

This seems to be the most common problem on Hippo's juding by the thread-per-day we have on the subject. I hold my hands up, I too had this problem when I were more of a noob than I am now.

You reckon we could club together and get some cheap prime time TV ad time and do an awareness campaign :D? Bet that would please MHM ;).

not really :(.

I would rather LR had fixed the faults, rather than denying everything :(

Yeh you're not wrong :(. Us freelander owners have been cut a pretty raw deal by LR it has to be said. Such a shame. If it weren't for the build quality and reliability issues it would probably be the best soft roader in the world for under £10k.
