hi guys, was looking at some nice mult media, sat nav , stereos for the car but i was under the impression it has to be a single din system as i didn't think the double din will fit my 2002 td4, id really like one of those with the screen that has the sat nav etc on, anyone know of any decent ones to get, i checked halfords as they fit them too an wasn't sure which ones on ebay can fit. Thanx again guys, rich

I removed the lower switch panel and bought an arm cubby for them then made a surround for it, I might/need to move the gear lever might warm it and bend it as it can get in the way sometimes for the sat Navy.

Ull need a short system tho to do this without further modding

I bought and fitted a Philips ced780 but its only a single din with screen satnav Bluetooth cd dvd radio multimedia its quite and impressive bit of kit

halford do sell it but I got mine of ebay £150 cheaper and fitted it myself

Cheers guys, yea think i may have to go with the single din with slide out screen as it seems quite abit of work to make a double din fit.

I didn't go with slide out screen as it looked like it would foul on the vents and console switches, you can get mounting boxes which I also nearly did and mounted it on the dash instead

does foul on the vents a bit when screen first opens but its adjustable so can be brought forward of the vents and is a good position to view satnav etc

That is a slightly better position.

I looked at 2 DIN units, but decided against it as Shen you hold the steering wheel, my left hand blocks the view of the area.

So I went down the single DIN route without sat nav and use a TomTom Go 6000 which is really impressive, and it keeps on getting better as the improve the firmware.

I have it permanently wired in and on the right by the A pillar.

Cheers guys ive seen some pretty decent single din ones but not with the sat nav on for under £250 which is the top of my budget lol lucky the Mrs doesn't read this haha

There's quite a few on eBay sorta same brand as mine single din/with flip out screen, don't forget you can also with most of them add a second screen which you could mount above the vents for the sat nav, but obviously up lose any touch screen ability with that

parrot asteroid single din in ours. It runs android and you can use it with google maps etc on the screen. works a treat :)

Ok guys finally nearly there now with my beauty, i was going to order the xtrons 7inxh flup sat nav/radio today but when i called there recommended fitter he told me that he thinks the screen wont come straight out as the radio in my 2002 Freelander isn't straight its at an angle as with the heaters just above it the screen wont flip out an straight out instead being at a slight angle? Is this the case? An what can i do to correct it?

Can anyone also tell me which extras i made need to order ie fascia? Adapters etc, i want to organise this by the weekend as its a Xmas present to myself haha

Cheers in advance guys

A bit late here I think, but I fitted a 7" Nexus 7 (2012 model) in mine!

Built in GPS and WiFi is great! Does every thing I need, and to cheat, I used the (no longer) empty space behind the tablet to hide this:
NEW Car Audio Stereo In Dash Fm Radio W/Mp3 Player/USB/SD/Input AUX Receiver UK | eBay (A £15 stereo that is Radio and AUX in (NO CD))

Then I used the headphone out of the Nexus into the Aux In. Cheaper than using a DAC or anything from the Nexus.

Lots of swearing, cursing and huffing but I'd still happily help someone else if you wanna give it a go ;)

If using a Nexus 2012 I can provide all files used including TimUr's USB Host Rom (means the tablet goes into standby when the power from ignition if switched off etc when using an OTG-Y cable) and all files to make it look how mine does :)
