Evening

I was having a nose under the bonnet today and noticed an alarming issue with one of the OEM hoses. Quickly got on forum and had a search for replacement hose suggestions and came across this -

Freelander TD4 Full Intercooler, Turbo, Air Intake Kit

So I toying with buying the lot and replacing them all before it gets too cold to attempt these on the drive.

What I wanted to find out is how easy they are to replace? Some of the hoses vanish deep into the engine bay and I must wondered how accessible they would be or if I will end up having to remove bits of trim etc??

Any opinions or experiences would be most welcome.

Cheers

Si

Well, they're all easy except for the one clip where it goes onto the intercooler, which is nigh on imposssible.

When I did mine, I used a combination of a stubby screwdriver, pliers and a socket to get it undone.

when I replaced it, I turned the clip so it was easier to get to the screw head, and used a flexi drive socket to do i back up.

Top tip thanks for that! Think I will get on and do it, particularly if we are in for a bad winter.

Will refit that clip the other way round like you say, think I am also going to EGR bypass while I am it, will give inlet manifold a good clean through.

That's a lot of cash!

I only bought the 3 turbo hoses at £65 - less than half the total of the set you posted!

I'll get the turbo to intercooler hose - if and when it starts to look iffy - at the mo it's fine.

I don't know of anyone who has had one fail - perhaps we'll hear of one now?

For the air intake I reckon that 6mm solid silicone is a bit of an overkill.

I got 0.5 metres of silicone corrugated intake ducting on eBay for under £15 - that's double the length needed - at a fraction of the price.

If you intend firtting an EGR by-pass I would suggest that you fit a 'T'-Bolt clamp on the 90degree hose where it fixes to the EGR.

Also you need to check the tightness of all clips and clamps after 100 miles or so as silicone doesn't tighten down like rubber when new. I found I needed a couple of turns of the screws on each one.

Singvogel.
