should this be attached to something

hi guys
had my 90 a few months now and have been working my way through all the rattles and bangs and found this today
its a big metal washer really between the back of the front prop( on the left) and the transfer box (on the right) my pry bar is on the edge of it. i pulled it forward to take the piccie but otherwise it just rattles around on there. everything is running ok all oil levels are fine just wodering what role this has in life other than annoy me with the noise it makes rattlin around

its the mud/stone/crap guard for the diff oil seal, mine were loose too, when its time to fit a fresh oil seal you can get a fresh one, not worth doing unless you are going to strip down the diff flange just for that IMO.
