Afternoon all. Well it would appear my water pump is knackered after 12,000 miles. would have thought id have got more than that out of it. Got a bit of play in the bearing and pink coolant spatters on it. Also can you take the timing cover off without taking the sump off. Cheers guys

Sorry wammers trying to do to many things at once. its a 4.0 thor.

OK answer to first question, it should last longer than that. Depends what you used in the first place, some after market iffy, genuine should last considerably longer. Answer to second question is no you can't.

Cheers Wammers think it was an all makes water pump that was put on it. will replace it with a proper one. and as for the timing cover oh well off with the sump it is then.:(

Shouldn't be anything like that in it cos water pump was done 2 years ago and full system was flushed through and all coolant replaced.

Yep, sump off, oil strainer off, cooler pipes off, crank pulley off, belt off, cam position sensor off, rad hose off, oil pressure sensor wire off, (on the GEMS, tensioner off, no need to remove alternator or bracket)

Sound like you know a bit about it, or did you ask someone who had done the job recently? :p:D:D:D
