Sheared head bolt

Put the head on the disco today and new head gasket, i also got new head bolts from britpart as i didnt want to re use the old ones. AS i was tightening the first bolt to the required 30NM the bolt sheared before i even reached 30NM. Will have to wait till tomorrow to lift head back off and see if i can remove the bolt, anyone any experiences of this happening to them? If so i would appreciate any advice, thanks

You won't buy them again.

Yeah lesson learned, i'll go genuine parts next time. Will it be a big problem to remove broken bolt?

Depends where it's broken, if you're lucky you should be able to get mole grips on it once the head is removed.

If not even though it's britpart may have a job using easy outs !

I'll see tomorrow i suppose, would the head bolts from famous four be of good quality? im throwing all the britparts in the bin.

weld a nut on it and use a ratchet

When I did my HG on my 200tdi disco I got the head bolts from rimmer bros. Think I paid about £30-40 but no problems.

It's not a 5 minute job changing HG so I don't see the point on penny pinching !

I always check what parts I buy. The shop I buy most of my part's from select part's from britpart but not many, cos most are ****. Don't put them in the bin, get your money back.
