Hi all,

This is a serious cry for help as im totaly buggered with this one, ok i have a 98 300tdi and i have found that when im pulling away or the engine is under power everything is fine but when i ease off the fuel and its free wheeling the Near Side front wheel makes a grinding banging noise and then goes when i put my foot down, if im turning left the stearing wheel turns as normal if i turn right then after quater of a turn on the steering wheel it feels like i have hit some resistance and requires a little more effort to turn but feels really stiff as if it dosent want to turn, the diff lock is off and its in both high and low range so it cant be that.

Oh yeah if i let go of steering wheel it has a left hand pull and if i touch the breakes it dives to the left.

Any help would be great as im not ready to see my disco die just yet.

Cheers guys

I'd check the brakes ...

Pistons stuck in calipers, brake pads missing/mis-aligned/jammed up, Discs flat and full width, Caliper bolts loose/actually there ... etc etc

cheers guys, i thought brakes but it was the turning problem and the fact when its under load it stops making a noise that threw me, im obviously panicing for nothing, i will strip wheel off tomorrow and have a butchers at the brake set-up,
