have a 1950 80” petrol Land Rover
The engine and gearbox are shot but I have a series 3 Diesel engine and a series 2a gearbox.
Due to the lack of funds I’m thinking of replacing the original engine and gearbox with the above.
Has any one done this or can any one offer some advice.
Regards

I imagine you will have to cut the original engine mounts off and shorten the prop. The gearbox mounts may need work also. As Kermit says, it would be a shame to reduce its originality if the existing engine and box can be repaired.

Welcome.
Do some measurements. Bulkhead may need cutting out due to the hydrolic clutch.
Then you have to make a bracket for the pedal to accept a master cylinder.(that’s if you have the hydrolic clutch not the rod version)
Make sure the engine will fit without hitting the front diff.remove & replace engine mounts

apart from that it is possible.
go on post some photos of the motor
