self locking doors

Can anyone tell me how to stop the driver door on my defender from locking it self when i shut it

From my experience with these bloody doors, get a different vehicle

not very helpfull lol

take the lock button off the inside and remove the linkage bar, that should cure it

Good idea but i wanted to repair it

why would you want to lock the door from the inside?
I never lock mine cant see the point, ive got enough security on it with out the poxy lr locks, i figure id sooner they get in and see what security there is to greet them while the alarm is sounding and the remote alert has notified me and get there to reset the alarm and not worry about replacing windows etc

My mate always does it when he's driving. Says its to prevent him being date raped apparently

Same thing happens to my passenger door, only a problem really for 'er indoors!'

What if someone wants to pull him from a burning wreckage after an accident - he'd be stuffed. Or, to put it more accurately, he'd be toast.

Jeez always someone has to take it seriously

I used to be bad for locking the doors while driving in my last car but I don't do it in my landy. Unless I'm in some dodgy area. It was always something that was at the back of my mind though so always better for the OP to sort the problem asap, especially with all this stuff in the news just now about people having to be rescued from floods
