Seat ECU

I've had a close look at my ecu and it appears to be
in good condition, i cannot see any signs of battery leakage
but it has this soldered onto the back of the board.

It all worked as far as i can remember before the restoration
strip down started.

Any ideas on why this extra bit is there and also looking
for somewhere to change the battery as i dont want to
mess it up

It's just a mod probably from the factory. Battery is easy to change if you can use a soldering iron and they can be bought from CPC. If the battery is not corroded, it may just be flat and will recover after about 48 hours connected.

Only reason to change the battery was to prevent it from leaking
as i guess this could be the original so 20 years old now

Yep, that looks like the one, just double check the voltage is the same.

Talk to Docky57 (nice chap) he has the batteries, diods and the power interface etc etc etc............

Voltage is the same as the original one fitted to the
PCB so should be fine.

CPC for the batteries, only £7.88 for two of them, £9.46 delivered

Hope you cleaned off any sign of corrosion

A layer of conformal coating would help preserve the board and components, just avoid the relays.
The batteries have a life expectancy of 7 to 10 years, I use a lot of them

The board was cleaned etc and looks in superb condition, everything
worked before replacing the battery so hopefully everything is as before
bar the risk of a leaky old battery.

Tested it in another soft dash and everything works, also repaired another unit and that's 100% too, inc the memory functions

Photo of it fitted to my seat ready to go back in
