Seat belts series 1 and 5 year olds

Anyone no what the law is regarding a 5 year old sitting in center front seat of a Series 1?

It has no seat belts.

I agree that fittting a belt is the only way forwards but what does the law say?

Buy the way the series 1 is going to be our second vehicle but will be used for my daily commute should be fun!!.
