Did i just read that not only do you have to carry a breathalizer kit when touring in France but that sat navs with speed camera warnings are illegal and can be fined up to 1000 euros

From the 1st July a breathaliser kit has to be carried, cost 1 in Roady stores. Sat Nav is legal but must not display radar info, this may or may not be law yet, I have not seen the definitive implementation or start date.
The breathaliser kit is a typical piece of political nonsense, if you are a **** artist you are not likey to self breathalise and the cops will do it for you if you get caught. Soon there will be no room for luggage with all the junk the polito's want us to carry.
I would add that in some departments all radar warning signs have been removed and on the autoroutes they now have cameras hidden in the armco barriers.
If you go to www.viamichelin.fr and put in a route, it will show all fixed radar points if it is still legal to show them.
Not really much point if you're on foreign plates... they can't do you, can they?

I once got stopped in a country lane not far from Clermont Ferrand in the middle of the night.
Proper France countryside, about maybe 1 car through every two hours, they had set up a full roadblock with barriers and everything, stopped me, breathalyzed me, checked documents, searched car, the lot. I was a UK citizen, living in Amsterdam, with a Dutch registered car in France. I can speak no French, them no English, it took forever to get going again!
Can't believe they'd bother in what amounted to a Cornish Lane, but they were very officious about it.
Nah the UK leave the French standing when it comes to corruptionFrench... the most corrupt nation on this earth, bar none. Where do you think Africa learned it from???
