hey.. i have a 1990 discovery, it has the old 10 spline shafts, diffs ect.. while off-roading i keep blowing my rear diff .... a freind of mine has a salisbury rear axle wich i can get off him and im told they r very strong diffs.. only thing is im not sure if the gearing is the same, it looks like it will fit but tbh im not even positive about that....

any advise on the gearing or fitting of the axle much appreciated... thanks

All coilsprung land rovers have 3.54:1 gearing in the diffs. It'd be easier to fit a later 24 spline 4 pin diff though. Salisbury axles are strong but if it does go wrong it'll be a pain in the arse to fix.

ah cool.. so ratio's r the same and it will fit.. thanks very much... not to bothered about it being a pain if it goes wrong.. gettin axle off a guy im doin some work for so just knockin the bill down a little. so its just costin me my time... main thing is it will hopefuly be stronger so less chance of breakage.. :).. so, im guessing the 10 spline diffs r pants as this is the 3rd diff in as many months??

im not sure.. the prop off the deffender it came off is still attatched to the axle... not sure on length difference tho.. ill have to get the measure out.. :)
