Have you received the strut yet PG4578? If so how was it for you? :)

I tried to fit it today but things were going a bit too well. Instead of being completly seized, the two nuts came off without much trouble. :)

When I tried to fit the new strut, I found it just slightly too long, and I was unable to compress it by hand

Also, the hole at the top of the strut was the wrong size. On the Land Rover, to top mounting pin appears to be a slightly thicker diameter that the bottom one. So, even if it had been the right length, the new strut wouldn't have fitted anyway.

I phoned SGS and they were very helpfull. I have returned the strut along with the old one. SGS said that they would make me a new one to the required spec.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Strut arrived today with the top hole having been drilled out. It went on without any further problems and works great. They do not supply the rubber boot, so remember to keep the one from your old strut.

SGS were very helpful and I replaced my strut for a total of £23.15 inc P&P :D

Thanks for the SGS feedback pg4578. I'll get in touch with SGS on the next round of fixes (having spent a little over £600 on 'essential' fixes this month )
