Well, what can I say?! After getting a full 10.5” of snow on Saturday (proof below – and yes, that’s a flat and level surface!!) the Range Rover has well and truly earned its keep this weekend! Spent all day Saturday towing and pushing people out – towed a stranded couple in a C-Class Merc up a hill, then a massive Iveco box van lorry thing of medical supplies that was blocking a whole road (again, up a hill – very impressive) and then the biggest challenge of all – a mate in a pink smart car!! Took it all in its stride, and all on normal Mud + Snow tyres, two of which are pretty worn (on the rear)!!

Even the heated door locks work (locks seem to freeze quite easily, so that’s a blessing)! Just hold the handle out for a minute and voila(!), the locks open with ease.

I absolutely love the car...apart from the horrendous fuel economy. £27 to cover 55 miles is absurd, that’s 11mpg!!

Anyway, some pics below:

Exploring some local lanes – I think we were only the 2nd or 3rd vehicle down there by the looks of it!

And our chickens, looking thoroughly bemused by it all...

Love it! :D

Smart car has to be pretty good in the snow. Nice thin tyres, easy to push, narrow so can get round stranded cars in the road.

And you wouldn't think twice about setting fire to it to keep you warm if you got stuck ;)

Actually, they're not great! They're very light and RWD with surprisingly wide rear tyres and no weight to give them traction. Also, you CANNOT switch the traction control off, which is a pain in the snow. And they’re automatic which in a Rangie is great, but you’d benefit from the control of a clutch and manual gearbox in a little car like that!!

You’re quite correct about setting fire to it though :D

Do I see snow chains on the front tyre Mike, or is it a funny snow pattern? And why the sheet of board on the grill, I would have thought 'working' the old girl would have kept things nice & warm.

No snow chains, just stock Goodyear Wranglers on the front!!

And the cardboard is to help her warm up quicker - thermostat is a bit stick so takes an age to warm up as it is, by blocking some of the freezing air hitting the radiator it helps her warm up a bit quicker!!

Mine is absolutely steaming through the snow here, I am however going out to the garage in the morning to fashion a "warm up quicker you git" device from cardboard or plastic just like mike has!!!!!!!!

Mines going well with just BFG a/t's on the front and endura runways on the back axle!!!!!!

V8 classics are the ****in dogs bollox.:cool::cool:

I agree wholeheartedly:) In answer to the OP I have no feckin idea what my MPG is like due to a dicky gauge but given the fact I have binned the entire exhaust from cats back and replaced with £35 of pipe plus a cherry bomb I suspect mine may be worse.
I am just having too much fun to measure my mpg! Hope you get some answers with yours Mike, a plug chance would be an idea, mine responded well to plugs, filters and fresh fluids about a month ago.:)

Its a bit "antisocial" but thats not really a worry to me. This gives you a better idea I took the video while having the seats out to refurb the leather:

My neighbours have grown used to me over the last few years as I built this and the exhaust is scaffolding tube..........

Must be like living next to the clampets I suppose!!!!
