Hello again everyone.

2 months ago, I bought my first 2003 L322 4.4 V8 in Glasgow. Filled up at the Morrisons LPG Station for £45. Got straight onto motorway and kept a average speed of 70-80 mph. I managed to get 260 miles from the £45 full tank of LPG.

Filled it up after a week and drove it local for a week and got 100 miles on £38 full tank (58p a litre, cheaper place). NOT IMPRESSED!!

Couple of days later, I filled up full tank and got onto motorway doing 70 - 80 mph again and now my tank only gets me 160 miles!!

I'm losing 100 miles on motorway for some reason.

Tried other filling station but still 100 miles less!

As soon as I got it back, I put new Bosche plugs (same ones that came out), air filter, pollen filter, LPG service and tune up on computer.

Also takes a bit longer to start every time. Whether hot or cold. Runs smooth and silky with no shakes or misfires. No codes on diagnostic machines.

Any ideas?? No gas leaks, tested by professional. Please Help!!!

Thanks

Ok, I'll kick off with a few thoughts based on my 3.9 Classic.

On local driving she will be VERY thirsty - stop/start, hardly getting to top gear, etc.

I'm assuming that like mine she starts off on petrol and switches over when temp/revs rise? And the poor starting is on petrol? If so then your problem is most likely an ignition issue, or the sensors, MAFF or Lambda, giving in-spec but inaccurate readings.

Now let's see what the experts think.

From my L322 on LPG I have a 90 litre tank (72-74 usable litres) and I average 215-225 out of a tank.

The BMW M62TU44 engine is a great conversion to LPG choice and it takes it well.

I can only assume you are either a little heavy footed (it is tempting in the L322 to boot it everywhere, sounds great) or you need to have the LPG fuel trims setup correctly.

Now my girlfriend drives the L322 predominantly I always try and remind her to think opposite to a racing driver...they are looking at ways to be on throttle 100% of the time around the track, whereas she needs to be looking at ways to be off throttle for aslong as possible to gain better economy.

As can be seen from my fuelly thingy in my sig, I average around 15mpg out of the L322...you should get that atleast....

Thanks for your replies. Yes that's right, we are heavy footed lol. But it can't give a difference of 100 miles range on motorway 70-80mph, can it?

Besides I haven't changed the driving style since the say we bought it. We have had fuel trims for the LPG realigned.

It has always took longer to start, from day 1 since I bought it but other than the long crank problem it still starts first time everytime.

Thanks again
