RR Classic Interior spruce up

Ok so the mild fettling continues

The seats were a bit shagged and after receiving tuition at the hands of the master I attempted a refurb of them myself.

Poor state to start with:






Damage to one armrest



Both seats out and prepped ready to fill and accept colour





Rubbed down with 1200 Grit



Finished effort after colour and satin top coat (3 coats) all by airbrush.





Back in the Tank



Just in time for me to take the remnant of my kitchen to the tip!!!!

Its a dye colour I had mixed up by sending them a snippet of the leather from under the rear seats (turns out to be connoly winchester grey). They colour match the snippet and send you a bottle of dye and a bottle of finish (satin or gloss - I chose satin).

I did have someone who does this for a living show me how to do it but in fairness its a pretty simple process, sponge coats followed by airbrushed on colour and then satin.

Gives a nice, new car smell inside, that'll be the solvents then!!!

The deeper recesses of the seat (pleats / stitching etc) benefits from an amount of dye applied by a small piece of sponge before you start to airbrush. Gives a more even coverage with no problems in missing those hard to reach bits!!
