Hi am thinking of buying a rovacom as I live in Spain and getting diagnostics done is a problem where is the best place to buy and what kind of price am I looking to be charged and anything else to look out for look forward to seeing your replies

Yes Black Box Solutions, Rovacom Lite tied to one vehicle covers most things, comes in at less than £400 I think if you buy as a complete kit. You will need a laptop as well.

I doubt that will do much with the P38. Looks like it might do EAS but not much else. IIRC the lucas 14cux is fitted to the RRC/discovery/defender but not the P38 and later (GEMS). It definitely wont do BECM etc.

Eldescan, what type of RR do you have?
Maybe not at the moment, but just remember it is made by Omitec - who took over from Hewlett Packard with Testbook. So it is not reverse engineered, you just need to wait for the upgrades to be released.
The other thing to remember is that "certain" so called LR specific diagnostic tools STILL cant sort out P38 Hevac issues. And other ones have "reliability" issues.

Hi thanks for your replies I will be looking closely at your suggestions later when I have more time in answer to Spud H question I have a P38 diesel dse. any other comments would be gratefully received. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

True enough:p And he doesn't like ti be told that:rolleyes:

All in all though I wouldn't still have my P38 if I didn't have Faultmate.

I can understand that, there's no way I would have any modern vehicle without full diagnostic capability. The forum rows do cause me to have a little giggle now and then.I did pay alot of money for my Testbook back in 2003,but it all still works, even the battery in the laptop will still do a 1/2 hr job on a charge.(Pus you can believe what the screen says.)
And the other point is that on many ocassions I've been paid to do diagnostic jobs by garages with "Other" kit that either reads wrong or has failed.
