Hi,

I got roof rails from a scrapyard, went through another thread about fitting them already. Have all the parts when I realized that my roof is too high for the rails, its a comercial. The bars came off a 2001 model, mines a 2005.

I took the rails apart so that the cross bar is off but I dont think they will work that way.

Do I need to get specific rails to fit this model or a new roof?!?

I have the commercial, as does my colleague. I have never seen a roof like that, it seems to be a special version.

There's a few roofs on ebay from time to time

Postage to Ireland is a killer on them! I've seen a few similar roofs but none with the rails, maybe theres a clue in there that I'm choosing to ignore!

I've got a commercial and my roof ain't like that either the only difference between the 3 door and the 3 door commercial is just the glass..... Never seen one like that before!

This sort of roof is common in the Netherlands for commercial Freelanders. In the Netherlands there are strict regulations about the size of the loading space. So therefore there are this sort of "modifications" to meet the regulations.

I've taken the cross bar off, just wondering would they still be structurally sound when I
Put on the bars on, didn't want to chance it until I was sure or I'd seen it on another one especially with the 75kg weight restriction.

There was me thinking mine was special!

Thanks for all the help!

was speaking to my mechanic the other day and told me about these roofs, they are mostly fitted to hippos which began their life as a passenger vehicle and were converted to commercials. the roof is made to meet specs as the vehicle has to have X amount of cubic space to qualify as a commercial. Normally these vehicles miss the floor wooden board, having just a caraet instead. Correct me if i'm wrong
