Roof bars / rack

Hi guys

I want to get a roof rack or roof bars for my defender, as much as I like the look of the full on roof racks with a ladder down the back, I think it's a bit excessive for me, only really want it for strapping surfboards on to and the odd other use. So thinking roof bars would be my best bet- agreed? I thought this way I could take the bars off when not in use.
So...are these easy and quick to take on and off, will they mark / scratch the paint? And lastly does anyone have a recommendations on what ones? (Not wanting to break the bank)

I have a pair of roof bars I bought via ebay. They're meant to be adjustable in width to suit different vehicles and simply clamp over the rain gutters. When not in use you can take them off and store them in the garage. Two are fine for a 90 but three would be slightly more sturdy, particularly on a 110. They can scuff the paint slightly around the clamps when you're fitting them, but nothing too obvious.

The advantage of a full roof rack is you can more easily load lots of smaller things on the roof and cover them over with a net etc, but for single larger items (ladders, surfboard etc) roof bars work fine.

Want to find rog bars then I think that are easy adjustable and hopefully a good pair that don't mark the paint at all.

I put Rhino Bars on the Defender. They were alright. Nice and strong and came with a rubber strip to protect the gutters.
