Hello ,

My friend in England is willing to convert my not yet bought defender 90 , 300 , from right to left hand drive . He is a very skilled amature who has his own defender off roader he is always improving .

Ive looked online about the conversion and get many different ideas , I thought the place to come would be here ,

Has anyone got a comprehensive list of the parts needed and any common problems we might come accross , the more research I can do now may reduce the pain later

thanking you all in advance John

and i thought an introduction might go down a bit better, get yourself to the intro section and do that first then search search search it has been covered many times.

This has been covered a few times. The general conclusion is it would be better to buy a LHD one unless you have something special that you want to convert.
LHD ones do seem to cost a bit more money though.

Hello Paddy ,

I live in southern Spain and everything down here is massively expensive , plus I am to mechanics what Bruce Forsyth is to boxing ,

so my thinking is my landy mad mate in Manchester can buy the 90 for me , do the conversion RHD to LHD , do it up so I know its sound , then I will import it to Spain and hopefully it will be worth what Ive spent

If not , it would be worth it to me as its a simple vehicle I have a chance at fixing and in the words of my friend , "not even you could sod it up"

I have a mitsibishi shogun 2004 at the mo and its been a piece of kak since I bought it , I lift the bonnet and I may as well be looking under the bonnet of the space shuttle .

thanks John

If you get a Defender I'm sure by the end of next year you will be a mechanical wizard.
They are easy to work on. I always thought they would be cheaper in Spain.
They are more expensive in France than the UK. There are some great places in Spain where you can go off road exploring.
