Well did it!
looked at several 110's today varying from £3k to £7K driving around 200 mile round trip, then ended up buying fab conditioned 110 EX MOD only 20 miles away..for £1900.
12 months MOT lots of history 106K on clock starts & sounds great drives fine with 5 speed box.
Got **** load of green jerry cans in the back plus other stuff.
Good deal? will post picks when I pick it up in a week or so.

Yep I know its not a TDI, I may regret this but its been well cared for by past now passed on owner.
Overall reckon I am a happy owner with a good deal...:D:D:D

The owner passed away, so buying it from his brother, there was a lot of paperwork with it but thats still with them until I pick it up as onlly so far dropped them the deposit.
Will hope to be able to fill in some gaps of its history then.
The guy has spent some money on it, new calipers & new clutch and hardly used since then as hew was ill.
Looks a good solid Landy though no welding done anywhere on it other than on one footwell.
Will keep the site posted, am sure I will be needing some good pointers on it.
Its a 1986 model.

Thanks
Steve

Why does everyone seem to think it's a great idea to re-engine?

The N/A is a great engine in it's own right, so please keep the original!

OK they're not good on the go-go pedal acceleration wise, but they get up to 70+ eventually and stay there!

Mine is in a 1990 110 and has done over 160k miles, is as sweet as a nut, does 30+ to the gallon and will cruise at 75 all day!

Mine struggled to reach 60 and sounded like the Banshees were after you, at that speed, best I managed MPG wise was 25mpg. they are slow underpowered and ****e. Let's face it all British car engines are. best you can do is dump the fookers and upgrade.

Never meant to start and argument! :D
Reckon on keeping the original donkey in it, as it sounds sweet and dead simple to work on.
Looking to pick it up once I can get the guy to take the rest of the money so will keep the post updated with some pics..and no doubt will be looking for some good advice and tips on related stuff.
Have done full rebuilds on many different vehicles and even big steel boats but cant beat advice and tips from those wiser than myself!
So thanks for the support guys!

1st time ya tow owt or drive it on a motorway, you'll be on ebay looking for a TDi engine for it. especially if it's ex MOD them squaddies only know one speed. Flat out and the only fluid checks they make are "how many can we neck before the bar closes" :D :D

Should of said, other vehicle we have is a 2.5 non turbo motorhome, cruising speed is 60 so reckon the Landy will feel like a ferrari!
Jury out will keep ya posted :)

the 300tdi is slow as fook 70 mph comes after about 4 days,85 mph my 110,s top speed arrives about a week later going downhill, but it has massive amounts of torque and will pull anything,so in comparrision a 2.5 N/A must be sluggish as fook dont take it on the m,way you will have all the arctics taking the ****
