ride hight

Hi. was just wondering is there a height limit for lift kits. As I remember a good few year back a mate of mine had a datsun 120y we lifted the back and put on some awesome tires. the thing was sat up like a starvin dog at the dinner table. however. he kept getting pulled up by officer dibble. Was told to lower suspension because the ride height was to high. Cars could ride under it if an accident occurred. common sense yea. Fun no. Anyway the ride height of that car was no higher than my disco. Not even put the lift on yet 2". As I say just wondering.
