As the title says is it possible to retrofit air con complete with the digital controls to a 1999 Discovery 2 TD5??

Has anyone done this?

What bits would i need and is the wiring already there for all the bits?

i think i would need

Digital control panel
Aircon pump
change the heater matrix box behind dash
exchanger which i think is in front of rad

What else?

Thanks
Brian

L/R Did do a kit, STC50084, which was pipes, pump condenser and dryer, and the heater box.

Britpart do a kit for a Defender TD5 you might be able to bodge into fitting too...

Pump in all honesty... surely it'd be easier to sell up and buy one with A/C?

Hi All

Thanks for the replys. Its just something i have got into me head. Cant see it being hard to fit IF the wiring is already there Does anyobne know if it is??

Did not realise there was a kit available, i can imagine thats a fair few quid. Im going to have a look around a few breakers yards my brother tells me he saw a disco 2 in a local yard with rear fire damage so it may be a suitable donor if the price is right short of that i have seen the bits on ebay for not that many beer tokens and i reackon i could do it for about £100 + whatever a gas refill is. BUT it all depends on if the wireing is there.

Wiring may depend what spec level your Td5 is, even if the wiring isn't there it will only be a short harness that would fit within the dash and engine bay, you wlll also need engine brackets and a different brive belt.

A good place to start is look to see have any un-used sockets in the engine/rad area where the compressor and fan would be located and do you a vacant A/C fuse position in the fusebox, if so does it have any wiring coming away from it.
