Hey guys,

Just a quick one, when taking off the inlet/exhaust manifold, do you need to replace the gasket everytime?

I have taken it off in the past and it never ran the same, even though the gasket is still there, could it be this simple?

Cheers J

Gotta make sure both surfaces are spotlessly clean
Apply a LITTLE bit of joint compound to both sides of the NEW gasket
Job should be a gooden

You shouldn't need jointing compound but if you must use gasket goo (Hylomar blue for me) on the inlet and exhaust paste (the white stuff) on the exhaust manifold.

Depends on the gasket
Nothing on head gasket
Grease on cork gaskets
Exhaust paste on exhaust
Blue goo on everything else
But only a tiny bit it just gives it something to bed with

Cool, what's the best way of cleaning it? I can see a weekend job comin on! The new gasket is cork, should I put grease on and where do I get it from?

Cheers fellas

you've already been told grease and are you seriously asking where to buy it

A dull edged knife or similar is good to clean surfaces and a clean rag.......clean rags can be purchased from any good department store :D
