So I've now got the new axle in, a good days work but got there in the end! Started to strip the old one to see the extent of the damage... still trying to get the shafts out, theres something very broken thats stopping them slide out! Funnily enough though, they will almost come out of the wrong end of the axle... me thinks the planetary gears aint there any more!!

Anyways, heres the state of the stub axle and the cv when it came out, I'll update on the state of the diff when i finally (somehow!) get the shafts out

All of the above! trying to climb he thing out of a very sticky hole in darkest wales.. too much strain on the front drivers side as I was trying to get it up a bank and out of the mud! Never mind.. **** happens! :)

Yep... Defiantly ruined! I will be evening the score with Wales very soon... hopefully it will be a cheaper trip than last time! lol

This always is in the back of my mind when straining the landy up a steep hill off road, sometimes the sheer grip is amazing which must put a hell of a stain on the car. Good work.
P.S. what is the tyre & wheel sizes in the picture; looks good.

Thanks, I assume the wheels are 7" wide, you know type? I think I'll get these as the alloys are getting a bit scuffed.

No idea of make tbh... they are just the modular type you see about, and yes 7" I think. I prefer steelies cos if you dent one you can usually bend it back and be confident that it hasn't cracked or weakened too much unlike an alloy wheel.
