So I need some help with recovery point for my disco. I brought a hd bumper with the 36mm holes for recovery swivels but no I've read that these are not good for the job is this right. I know that they should be rated ,don't by anything that's not . Also I was looking at jate rings but the steering guard takes up the locating point for them . Just need some advice please

cheers'n'gone

If I were going to put recovery swivels on, I'd weld them in, which defeats the object and cost of a swivel. The flange on the back is only a few mm, so barely enough to keep a 2 ton vehicle rolling, let alone recovering from a mudhole.

I'd either weld a proper recovery hoop on, or add a tow connection of some sort .. ;)

Pic is the bumper I made to which I added the removable tow ball/pin .. It has a backing/spreader plate between the bumper and nut heads .. and works! ;)

Nice bumper good job on that , right so a weld job it is then , would it make any difference weldding it to the bumper or steering guard

Don't think so, just need a reasonably flat area so any load is taken directly through the length of the pin, not at an angle to it unless it's necessary.
