I'm sure there's a thread somewhere to answer my question can anyone refer me? my question is what tyres do people recommend for a 110 Defender - 75% road use, remainder 'light off road' - fields (often boggy with our weather) but not 'serious off roading/looking for trouble' I often tow a laden sankey trailer.

I'm looking for a good balance of off road traction, low road noise, and high MPG!

Depends on your budget....... I bought my 110 3 years ago and it had new Enduro Runway A/T tyres fitted they are rated for mud, snow (M + S) and find them good on the road and okay off road. They are fine for me and no point in changing them.

However, for a bit extra you should look at good brand names like General Grabber, BF Goodrich or the likes. I have had two Defenders with them on and find them very good. Take a look at this site.

They give a reasonable description of the tyres and you can research further..... just pop your tyre size in, opt for all seasons type and then you can shop around for best prices... tyres online @ mytyres.co.uk: tyre dealer for cheap passenger, summer, winter tyres

You think it might have been mentioned before:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I've got B.F.G. A/T 235/85/16:D:D, have a search though mate, ;););););)

Looking at responses on this and other similar sites it appears that BFG AT is mentioned (positively) most often (given my research so far!) and General Grabbers next (although many posts dont specify AT2 or TR)

Next question is which size of tyre - width and aspect ratio? are these tubeless - the BFG website doesn't make it clear.

What MPG do people get with BFG AT and Gen Grabbers on roads? Is it comparable to rangemasters? (I currently get 27.5 around town and 30 and a bit on the motorway) in my 110. (I had rangemasters on my old 90 and they did 32 mpg on the motorway towing a sankey and 29 around town)

I'm looking to change my old General Grabbers (235 85 16) been on my 110 CSW since it was new back in 2002. I'm thinking of BFG AT's 265 75 16 on standard boost alloys. By all accounts they were a standard size so shouldn't rub on anything! Comments?

If yer worrying about mpg, sell the fender!!

mines does about 30mpg, running Nexen AT2 235/85s doesn't make any noticable difference, round town, on a run, towing the caravan all gives 30mpg +/- 1 my motorway speeds are generally about 56, with the trucks, can't be arsed changing lanes all the time.
