Rear window problems - again !!!

Hi All,
I've finally got around to changing the rubber window seals on my two rear side doors. Both have suffered from the filler moulded into the quarter-light rubber core 'blowing' and splitting the seals with all the chalky cr*p inside coming out inside the car.
I removed the inside door handle and trim and then tried to drop the window to remove it, but with no success. The window now refuses to work and it worked fine before I took off the door trim panel. All the wiring looks OK and nothing has been disturbed as I was very careful removing the trim, as all Freelander parts are made of Pixie dust that disintegrates when you look at them sideways (but you already knew that). I know it's a daft question, but does removing any of the trim bits affect the window mechanism. I can't see how it would and Mr Haynes doesn't mention it (no surprises there) but maybe someone else has had the same problem. Or is it just coincidence that as I've started to do the job that the regulator /cables have packed in at the same time ?

Any help would be gratefully received.........

Yes I did and I also checked the other 3 windows at the same time, which went up and down no problem. I can hear the wonky window switch click when I press it, but nothing happens.

Have you tried replace the offending toggle switch with a good one to see if this still causing the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, no I've not yet, as it was working fine yesterday. I'll whip off the panel off the other side (when it stops raining) and swap the switches over.

Coincidence you have a broken mechanism at the time of your other repair!

are you trying the switch on the door if so try the other switch either on the centre console or dash.

Weird, got in it this morning any it's working again and I've not touched it !!!!

If you research further on this subject, on this site, you will find that you can change the rear window rubbers without dismantling the door. I changed the n/s/r on Wednesday in less than half an hour.
