Hi all
Any one changed the above as I've done mine after mot advisory decided to go down the polybushes route but once fitted don't look right as there's a gap between fixing bracket and rear bush , is this normal?

It looks like the bracket of the side step is causing the gap but it's not

Just an update ive emailed power flex with the issues I'm experiencing with the seating of the rear bush including photographic evidence, they replied initially saing that they thought the bracket of the side step was fouling causing the gap. I've replied to this stating that the angle of the photos makes it look like it is fouling the bush but I've assured them this is not the case . Still waiting for there response.
Anyway figured I will have another look this weekend as the bush is built up of two bushes which interlock into one another on the bench but once on the vehicle a gap appears under load ... wondering if they are actually selling a product that is not fit for purpose , having said that I've not test driven the vehicle cause actually it might be fine just my gut feeling is it don't look right.

@Officerdibble thanks for the photo's, there are plenty of people on here with more experience than me, and I have not seen these bushes before so I may be talking through my arse.
I have fitted "Polybush" bushes quite a few times and not really had any problems, I would not have been happy to have ended up with a result like yours.
Have you got the big nut done up fully? pretty sure they tighten onto a shoulder
Why not try marking everything up, take the lot off the 90 and tighten the large nut up on the bench. If it still looks like that even without the distortion of fitting to the vehicle I'd say you have a case for a complaint.

Thanks for the reply froghopper that pretty much seems like a plan . I will report back

As regards talking out of arse's I've got a NVQ level 4.

On closer inspection with the trailing arm back on the bench the inner bush protrudes 2.26mm out from the poly bushes with every thing correctly assembled??? Which to me suggests there will always be a gap as this protrusion will note allow the outer discs to press against the poly bushes without either the inner bush being machined to the same length as the total length of the assembled bushing which equals 50mm or the two outer spacers need to be recessed on there bores to allow for the over sized inner bush.
Regards David

I've emailed my conclusion to powerflex I'm awaiting their reply .
I am prepared to ask landrover to give there opinion as a independent specialist if necessary obviously at my or powerflex's cost.

i wonder if power flex ‘buy in’ the metal parts and a batch were out of spec or something?

No doubt the metal sleeve is to long, this would result in grime getting into the gap and wear / movement setting in pretty quick.
The term " not fit for purpose " comes to mind.

I fitted polybush parts to the front radius arms on my 1983 110 and was not impressed by the inferior handling afterwards the steering was definitely worse than with genuine rubber parts ,so pulled the whole lot out and fitted genuine parts and restored the excellent handling that the 110 has which was a revelation after 25 years of driving series 3's !

Fitted mine with Bearmach blue some years ago. They have been good, a couple have been replaced due to wear in the metal tube the result of movement. One place I do not recommend poly types is the Panhard rod, stick to original here.
