The casing around my far side rear shock has corroded, so I know I need a new one. But today I noticed my car was extra bouncy when going over bumps etc so I had a look and it looks as though my shock absorber has fallen off? Or become detached from where it's supposed to be.

I have attached a few pictures, the first few is what the absorber looked like originally when I first noticed it. I then "hooked" it back onto where I thought it went, and the second picture(s) are when I got home; so it seemed to have fallen off again.

Any advice on how to re-attach it or would the best option be to buy 2 new ones?

Few days ago and it looked fine to me but the suspension was working fine, just a few knocks from the far side rear end as the casing has corroded. The drivers side shock (the one pictured) as far as I know or have noticed only happened at some point today as I noticed the car was very bouncy.

Would these be any good?

Or these?

Would either of the 2 I linked be decent replacements? I have read this thread and think I would be OK replacing them if I took the wheels of and put the car on axl stands and lifted the body so I could get to them.

Just had a look at the far side and the shock isn't even attached so I'm definitely buying 2 new ones tomorrow.

Then you need to go to Specsavers! The eyelet might have snapped today but that's been wearing for a long, long time. I'd get the fronts checked too. Come to think of it, I'd get everything checked!! ;);)

:D:D:D:D

Am I right in thinking that I undo the nut at the top, and the nut at the bottom and put the new replacement one in?

Yep. Sounds simple but it ain't. I'd bet money on the bottom nut being rusted on solid. Fronts are more difficult as the shock is inside the spring. Get somebody to help you.
