Rear seat jammed

Hello all, I've just got a very nice 2001 disco TD5. Only fault I can find is the rear seat wont lift up to the side. when I turn the bar it doesnt release it from the floor. is this a common problem? and if so, how can I fix it, or at least free it for time being. any tips or tricks here would be much appreciated!

Have you tried a search. I came across the same problem and trying to remember how to fix it.

Forget turning the bar ! Grab the strap that is next to it and give it a dam good yank. One of mine always sticks and this is how I sort it out .

that is correct. PULL the strap strongly with a good jerk.

my rear seats are a real sod to release the catch from the floor spent ages fiddling with the linkage ect . what allways works for me is to when the back is folded down on the seat put all your weight on the seat ie pushing downwards at the same time as releasing the catch works for me every time.
