Just about to buy a baby seat and every one we try the rear belt won't go round it as it is too short. Apparently Land Rovers suffer from this with new legislation about size of new baby seats so am a bit fecked.

Have found a place who can lengthen the belt but it won't all retract as the 'holder' bit won't take any more reel. Anyone know where I can buy replacement belt altogether that may be longer?

thats very strange as i have 2 baby car seats at rear of me FL what year is yours as mine is a 3 door year 2000- i have no problems at all getting seat belts around the seats

It's a 2003 5 door. I have got a Mama's & Papa's "child" seat for our 4 year old no problem but new baby on the way and these new travel systems have baby seats to take children up to 13kgs rather than 10 so they are bigger and the belt won't go round. Apparently M&P have reported quite a few Range's & Freelanders as having same problem. It's easily 2 feet short if not 3!!!

Hi,

I had the same problem when our little one turned up.

Firstly what type of baby seat is it.... ie One you take out and put on your pushchair 0-12 months, or a fixed one for babys over 12 months?

The reason i asked is if its the first type, and it really wont fit then you can get an extension for the belt. I have all the details at home so will try and dig them out. Its not a bad price either. This is a safe and strong extender.

If its the second type, your more or less screwed because the female connector is alot lower than most cars and there are only a few types that are ok. I did see an extender for the female end but i wouldn't go the route as your baby is worth more than a new chair!

Hope this helps.

When our daughter was around a year old we bought a Maxicosi Tobi car seat from Mothercare for our daughter (now she is nearly two) and it fits fine with no problems.

She is also very happy with it, she sits high so can see everything and it also reclines for when she is feeling a bit sleepy..... (most trips)

(Only one minor issue, but it shouldn't put you off, just take care putting your kid in the seat as it a bit high so try to avoid nutting her head on the door frame on a regular basis, but at least it's rubber coated)

What a clever idea - a kiddy with a rubber-coated head.

As for the OP - as said - check out eBay for extenders.
