Rear quarter window replacement

Got a little close to a tree on the slippery stuff today and lost the window.

Does anyone know a good place to source a replacement? ebay has them but they all have an inch worth of metal around them where they have just been cut from rear quarter panel - I think it would be difficult to remove the glass unless anyone knows differently? D1 windows available on ebay as just window but I'm guessing these won't fit.

Also lets say I'm feeling lazy - will autoglass or alike replace these windows at a reasonable price?

Yes but they'll try to rip you off with a 'list' price first.
Get a few quotes, include a couple of little local guys, and you should end up paying about a third of 'list'.
Get the quotes to include fitting and that will save you the palaver of cutting the old bits out, trimming the old bond and buying a tube of bond.

Make a perspex one , wont break again

Seemingly even the cheapo window traders were surprised at how much this window would cost to replace. Out of principle I don't want to pay £150+ sheets so I'm looking for a second hand one if anyone has one.

Has anyone actually removed this window from the rear quarter and kept it in one piece? There's one on ebay for £30 but I reckon it might be a pita to remove. Perhaps some kind silicone remover would be the best option - I can't see a knife working without breaking it. Your collective wisdom would be appreciated.

I did consider this actually mate. Not sure if working with perspex is like working with plastic (guess it is?). If so it's very hard to get a good clean cut/finish.. well I struggled anyway.

Thought about a piece of ally too but would like to go the window route ideally.

Isn't 'sawing' with piano wire / welding wire the normal way?

I've not done it, but read up on it when expecting to have to replace a window. e.g. see http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Window_removal_and_installation
