Rear hubs onto defender.

Hi everyone,

I have drums on the back of my 90 and the rear drivers side wheel cylinder has started to leak so instead of buying new ones i have a set of axles from a discovery at home with discs for the rear.

What I would like to know is whether the hubs and half shafts can be unbolted from the discovery axles and fitted onto my defender as i intended to have rear discs later anyways?

just swap the complete axles straight over

dont really have the equipment to hold the chassis up, besides wouldnt the gearing in the discovery axle be different?

You don't own a pair of Axle Stands?? or half a doz concrete blocks???

no what makes you think that?

ive got rrc v8 axles on my defender..

as long as you have 2 trolley jacks and 2 axle stands its a job ya can do yrself with help from a friend

I do have axle stands but car ones, as the landy is lifted the axle stands dont reach it, and no dont have any blocks.

not a job Bob can do then

Can get some blocks from wickes. May have to give it a try tomorrow.

if yr good with tools and nuts n bolts its straight forward

I just thought the discovery had better gearing for more motorway use and it was done by the axles.

no - transfer box.

axles give yu disks ont rear.

like mhm says its the transfer box that does all the gearing not the axles
