Hi all,
Landed in some trouble again. Whilst driving home yesterday I head a banging sound from the back of the defender and afterwards no drive at all. Had my self towed home to find out the next day that one of the half shafts is not budging.
What are the tips and tricks to get this out and replace the half shaft with an other one

Just a few centimeters when pulling with band, i tried the metal rod from the other side but not moving and I am afraid to hit something else

it would need to be a very thin rod to go through the diff past the cross pin,if it moves a few centimeters lever it out using the drive member or strip hub down to remove stub axle

I will try the rod tomorrow again, the drive member is welded onto the halfsshaft at the rear. Although for the one not coming out the member has detached from the shaft

The magnet on a rod might not help I think, the shaft still feels as if unbroken. I can only assume that it's somewhat twisted and as such will not move. From what I have read on the web only brute force will get it moving?

sorry for the long absence; got someone looking at the half shaft, it does turn when the prop shaft is turned by the hand and also when putting the car in gear with that particular wheel raised. the half shaft can be clearly seen rotating so its not broken. However its still not coming out; I have another drive flange but because the splines on the half shaft are worn it does not make a difference. So is there another trick to get the half shaft out?
