The transmission sounds like a washing machine filled with rocks, and I'm hoping the front diff is the cause because I have a recon'd one ready to go in but if its the rear I've been told they can't be replaced on the 300Tdi 110 and I'll need to replace the whole axle assembly. Of course I've been told this by the person who would be writing the invoice so can anyone confirm or deny the truth ?

diff is built into case and not seperate like front diff ,it can be repaired while axles on the vehicle but requires setting pinion ,bearing preloads etc ,some just buy another case with diff and swap their own wheel stations over ,drum axle can be used too but mud shields wont have bolt hole in shocker bracket but mudshields are best left off anyhow

where abouts rough;y are you??

I Know somone locally that has one for sale I wanted the disks off off it but if your local canI think its the later type with the caliper bracket is welded not bolted will find out in the next couple of days

Yup at £60 each the price went up recently. I have bid on 2 on ebay on the condition I will buy if they had the brackets. When I went to see them both were welded. Somone said Early TD5 salisburys before they went P38/wolf but not sure.

THanks for the reply Gents and thanks for the offer Jai. I'm near snetterton race track, did you find out what type of axle it was? So far the rear prop joiunt and half shafts have been diagnosed, that might sort most of the problem but it might not be the end of it....
