Guys the courtesy light in rear of my.freelander 1 commercial stays on. Is there a switch on tailgate that might no be working

If the car thinks the rear door is open there should be a bulb on the dash showing a door open.

At least there is on my '99.

It'll also sound the horn when locking the vehicle, while a door is open. ;)

It's more likely to be the switch on the light itself. As said above, the dash tell-tale will be on and the horn will sound a quick blast, if the vehicle thinks a door is open, while it's being locked.

I've fixed the rear light so now onto next problem. Horn sounds if locking doors with something open. But horn doesn't operate from steering wheel. And front passenger window keeps blowing a fuse every time I operate window switch

What was the problem?
Horn sounds if locking doors with something open.
That's correct.
But horn doesn't operate from steering wheel.
Sounds like the clock spring is faulty.
And front passenger window keeps blowing a fuse every time I operate window switc
If the window doesn't move, then the cables have probably wound around the drum, causing the motor to stall.
