Any obvious reason why the lights in my rear bumper don't work? I have a 300TD 1995 Disco. Side lights and brake lights work fine but none at all work within the actual rear bumper.

I think this was possibly an either/or when the bumper lights were introduced for safety reasons in certain markets?!

For example my '98 bumper lights work but the side ones dont (I think lol)

So the wiring probably isnt there.

Standing by to be corrected!

Umm or do you mean you have no indicators at all?!

Bumper has only side and indicators, no brake lights.

You should have something either side or from one of the four lamps? They are individually earthed back but can't remember a common earthing point but that would be my first place of inquiry as to a common shared earth corroded as I doubt you will have lost both sides and indicators at the same time with fuses?

And yes the bumper lights were added as it was recognized as a need to maintain position lights when the rear door was opened, I can quote my MOT cert as saying that I must have a warning triangle out in the road when loading or unloading my vehicle, this is due to position side lights being obscured by the spare on the rear door when opened.

Thanks for the help!

I have indicators and side lights and brake lights on the main body of the car, but the actual lights within the rear bumper just don't work at all. Side, indicators, brake... nothing. Wondered if it was wiring problems. Does the wiring for those lights run underneath the car or through the body?

From memory it comes through the looms for each side rear lamp clusters.

Then through the gromets in the corners of the floor area, real pain in the hole if you have dikies seats as they need out so you can actually get in to see properly.

If you have no joy let me know and will pass on a tech archived post where I fitted a 300 bumper to my 200 to get out of the warning triangle thing!
