Can anyone help. The air suspension on my TD5 would not come down, I think one of the ride height sensors had gone over its limit. So I released the air from the springs at the compressor. Now it won't go back up. Any ideas on how to reset the ride heights without a Landrover testbook?

Disconnect the battery and swap the sensors between them, jack the back up to 3/4 of level then start the engine...make sure all doors and taildoor are closed... or replace them both if u can't get near a tester..what ever you do with the sensors or theyrs wiring/plugs disconnect the battery first or you'll need recalibration

So, if I replace both the ride height sensors, disconnecting the battery first, it should kick the compressor back in?

Normally, if it's not some management issue it must work...just help it with a jack to not be on bumps when u start... u can make a test: unplug all the connectors in the compressor housing and improvise a wiring as to feed the compressor and the two air supply valves at the same time(keep the polarity)...if it works cut the feed when the car is on level to not overinflate the bags.... it will stay on level for days with everything disconnected untill u put new sensors or get near a tester to read fault codes. See the sticky thread at the top of the forum for some info about SLS

Before you go spending any money check the fuseable link (30a from memory) for the compressor in the engine bay fusebox.

Thanks again, I thought there must be away to get the compressor running. Basically put a feed to the compressor but disconnect the valves. Thanks, looks like some tonioght under the disco.

u can feed the compressor alone if u want, but if the valves are closed the air has no way to leave and u'll force it... to run just the compressor disconnect his air output from the valve block then take out the relay and put a live instead pin 87 of the relay...(usually it has a scheme on one side)

Sounds like the compressor is fooked usually due to water intake. Does the compressor run at all ? if not and the fuses are OK then it requires replacing.:(

Thanks again. well the compressor runs, so I'll sort out the feed to the valve blocks and up she goes, I hope. Do you what opens the valves, a live feed?

make a wiring with paralell conections as to feed the two air supply valves and the compressor at the same time with 12V (where the black wires are on the plugs must be earth) , cut the feed when the car is on level...if u accidentaly overinflate the bags use that wiring and feed the two supply valves and the exhaust valve at the same time untill it reachs normal level and it will drop even.

Farbeit for me to try and sound as knowledgeable as the other guys on this forum but I had the same problem. The sensor was broke causing the bags to inflate and eventually burst. After renewing both sensors and air bags I had to jack the axle up as to try and sort of trick the system etc and the bags blew up a treat!

Did you disconnect the battery before u unplugged/replaced the sensors and bags? cos if u didnt that's the answer... it lost calibration...which is possible also if a wire from sensor to ECU brakes while running

Sierrafery, thanks for all your help, it worked. Bloody genius! Now I just need to get it onto a test computer and find the fault.
