 i resemble that remark :5bbiggrinjester:

must remember not to post when wearing beer goggles :beer2: :D
Considering the state of the 4 different make, bald tyres on the wheels you just sold me I think you should go and hide in a corner and let this thread move along without you :D:D
Seriously mate the wheels are great, just what I was after. Just need to save up for 5 (matching) tyres now:5bdriving:

Wrong.
70% of 245 is more than 70% of 235 (the second figure in tyre sizes means the sidewall height as a percent of the width). Rolling diameters are 235/70-16 =73.54cm and 245/70-16 =74.94cm

THAT'S what I wanted to know. Thanks. Thought it would be on the forum somewhere .. as they say, 'they're ain't nothing new anywhere, just remolds'.

WAS thinking about putting 285/75/16 Insa Turbo Specials on the rear of my V8D1 (it has 2" lift 5" susp shockers) after having much difficulty climbing a steep grassy knoll the other day. The Cooper STT 265/75/15s all round are great road tyres/all terrain generals but worn a little and could not easily grip the dry grass incline; admittedly I didn't lock or engage ARB, but looking at the tracks all tyres were engaged .. eventually.

So I thought 285s with large rubber lugs might help, help knacker the TBox that is now I know the calculation makes different tyre circs.

Aware that the 16s are bigger anyway than the STTs I have on, but the spare is a 265/75/16 Insa .. so I was 'thinking, why not'? Well that's why not. :rolly:
Comparing the spare against the STT and its taller, unsurprisingly, so I guess the answer is maybe get two Insas on 15" rims for the rear only (if obtainable .. even then they won't be the same circumf I bet) or get Insa 16s all round for pure off road and use some elbow greece when necessary to change over.

285s won't go on the front anyway so no point having all round and for lots of other reasons too I suppose including road noise, fuel even if it is a V8LPG, unnecessary step towards jalopys with diminishing returns. And the police of course .. always on the look out for serious crimes like anything illegal with Landy tyres 'so I hear'..

I shall sort out my pull to the right on braking and mull over tyres. The Gunson Eeezzzzzzzbleed was a good buy, have put thru litres of Dot4 but still a problem. She slews right when under hard braking and am pretty sure the front callipers are good and bled right. Did the whole circuit from rear near not that it matters, twice over and still she slews. So the rear left rusty calliper needs examination in my view.

Cheers.

Lost my D2 coming off a wet roundabout onto a dual carriageway, massive oversteer, tried to catch it but failed, ended up backwards onto the grass central reservation, amazingly I didnt hit anything or anyone and zero damage (apart from dented pride). I was running Goodyear Eagle road tyres on front and Grabber At2s on rear. Often wondered if it was the trye mismatch that caused it, slippery road surface or the old "needle too far round the clock scenario"? Anyway ATs all round now, no more "Bambi on ice " routines thankfully!
