Hi I have just fitted a genuine land-rover 13pin towing wiring harness to my 2012 range rover sport.
My question is do I have to book the car into land-rover for them to configure it or should I just use it as it is.
I don't want to damage anything as it says on the wiring manual it needs to go to the dealer to configured.

It could be to adjust the cars cooling and braking. It allows the car to know to change its settings when the trailor is fitted. Who's kit was it you used and was it a vehicle specific one;)

Does it state programming is a must or possibly needed. You could maybe try a independent specialist for advice or call a jlr dealer... Some things are way too complicated for good nowadays.. :)

It cancels the reverse sensors when trailer connected, it might affect engine and brakes, which is why it needs telling a towbar has been installed

I'd be surprised if it isn't just plug and play, I fitted LR leccy wiring and plug-in module (plugs into rear fuse box) to my first L322 and it worked just dandy.

Yes, it locks suspension, disables reversing sensors, disables vehicle fog lights and alters g/box shifting to aid cooling.
