Range Rover P38 OEM Brake Light Pedal Switch XKB100170

My diagnostics says faulty switch for the cruse control, this seems to be it, dose this do both brake lights and the cruse control in one. :)

I beleve if you google the title it shows up in more detail.

The P38 has two brake pedal switches - one for the lights and one for the cruise control (if it is a petrol version - it will also have a vacuum vent valve in it too, to vent the vacuum pressure holding the throttle bellows in place)....

As attached

no i dont have a vacuum pipe. but the switch was from the brake pedal, kind of push and then twist to lock it in.

I notice the one thats for sale has a longer plunger into the switch where as mine is a shorter plunger, wonder if its got jamed inside as teh switch for the cruse control is always showing off dissabled.

After looking at my switch i pulled the plunger out and it then is the same length as the one for sale, but when i press on it there is a grating noise and it gets stuck in the closed (short') in poisition again, so thats a buggered switch to me, i remember having to bend the switch plate holder so it would turn the brake lights off. wonder if i buy the new switch the cruse control will work again.

it must be higher up the pedal, or is it on the gas pedal?

After looking closer at the switch i have that i thought was jamed is not broke at all, its adjustable to touch the brake pedal arm why its adjustable i dont know but i still need to find the cruse control switch. its up there somewere :D

Hi

Changed this item twice recently. The switch is a one time fit only and you have to hold the brake pedal down whilst fitting it and then slowly release it. It clicks as it does it. It is to account for the resting position of the brake pedal so there is no lag when you touch the brake.

The reason I changed it twice was on the first occasion the brake lights were not working but cc was. After fitting the bl worked but cc did not. Supplier replaced and now both work. Has to have the three connectors.
