Range Rover L322 water noise

Hi Guys
I have a friend who owns a Range Rover l322 on a 52 plate who had nothing but trouble with his 4x4. Major issue he wants to resolve is when he steers the 4x4 either right or left you can hear water sloshing around sounds to me its somewhere inside the dashboard??? is this common problem with the l322?? am not to clued up with this model so hoping that someone can help me resolve this issue please

the only place i have had a swimming pool is under the spare wheel in the boot.
Whether the heater plenum has some how filled up which is under the bonnet and is easily removed with just two 13 mm nuts and move the positive jumper cable post a bit

Will have a look at this thankyou will let you know how i get on with it. do you know if other l322 owner had this problem ??

Never heard of the plenum filling up with water but the boot is common, can't see there would be much left to fill up with water without the plenum there, well not without getting wet feet
You may need to put the bonnet into the vertical service position using the spring clips on both sides and disconnecting the gas struts but be careful as it will come crashing down with just one strut and i tape them out of the way as when you try and lower the bonnet after they flip down and get caught on the wing but i would be checking the boot first. he hasn't been swimming under water lately has he?
there are a couple of drains that block on mine where the wiper arms come out through the plastic trim but whether that water can get trapped or maybe a door is full up if somebody has been wading

well everything is worth a try i know hes fed up with his RR so willing to give him a hand . there is a bit of water in the passenger foot well but were not to sure where that is coming from, though for me hearing the water in the dash indicates maybe the reason the foot well becomes wet, so till we can eliminate that no point looking at other areas

when he first bought it he had no problems regarding hearing the water in the dashboard he doesn't take it off road as he too sensible lol will keep you posted on how we get on regarding the heater plenum lets hope that its the fault, if so is there a wayto stop this from this happening again??

That chicken fellow doesn't need much encouragement to don inflatable arm bands.....or to revert to the rear!!!.
Yes, water noise in the dashboard....I had that,,,,, sold it before I could investigate!
Your mate, did he buy mine, a green one with lots of wax applied? lol

The heater plenum is only a guess but worth a look, there is a known leak somewhere I believe in the bulkhead and also water in the footwell could be heater matrix but Saint is your man for what goes on behind the dash as he has an extensive thread somewhere on it.
I can't think where would trap enough water to slosh around

I thought it may have been the matrix.

In fairness the rear is prone to water ingress, usually from a leaking rear side screen, aparently LR will sell you a plastic sheet to shield the moisture sensitive infotaintment accoutrements!
R&D at it's best i'm sure you will agree, like fitting gutters on the inside!

And you are doing a grand job......life is hectic at the moment...job change, money issues, making sure my Dad isn't too lonely after the passing of my Mum etc....

Same company, different job and different location.....

No longer at LHR as the contract scope changed when it was retendered and they no longer are manufacturering or modifing the GSE only service maintenance and repair.

So I was tasked with putting my 3D visualising skills to other uses and instead of mechanical and engineering it is now architectural and structural.

We are looking into intellegent modelling and BIM, so the last few months I have been attending training courses, lectures etc to gain an insight into 3D Architectural visualisation and using BIM and 3D modelling to generate intellegent models with embedded data......

We are flat broke, having kids is expensive..... A lot more expensive than we imagined, Summer only goes to nursery 2 days a week and that costs us nearly £700 a month!! Anna only works 3 days a week, and I havent seen a pay increase for nearly 7 years.....

Still needs must! Thats enough of my woes....

Glad you are doing 'ok' though mate, as you say needs must and adapting and overcoming is the name of the game.

I thing it is something we have terribly wrong in this country whereby somebody who chooses not to work at all and finance their lifestyle by having dozens of kids can be better off than families who choose to work.
There is a family at the bottom of my road, 4 bedroom detached house, brand new minibus for his fat arse and his fat arse wife and fat arsed kids, noisy motorbikes to ride illegally around on, drives the 5 minutes walk to the local school and the rest of the time he does fudge all or drives around in his minibus apparently unable to find a job and no incentive to when all of the above is provided completely free while others work themselves to death just to survive.

Anyway, slightly off topic there....hope all goes well for you mate, maybe you should charge to start writing online manuals on how to fix everything that is cursed by the green oval
