Well When I got my motor I thought oh this is posh the radio only picks up Radio 2, Radio 3 and Classic :). Found out today the booster was unplugged lol now get loads of radio stations to back to normal. Still cant get fobs recoded though lol. Guess will just have to live with using the key.

The only place to get fobs that will work is from the dealers.

Tell them your VIN and you'll get one that's coded to your car.

That suggests there has been an issue with the RF receiver and the wrong box has been unplugged. Did you see the other black box nearer the seat back or was it missing?

It's still there and still plugged in. I did think maybe they had just unplugged the wrong one, it was unbolted from its bracket and all plugs undone even the window aerial connector. Car unlocks/locks starts and runs well using the key so not sure what to do next or just live with using the key.

I have both the correct fobs that came with the car, batteries were flat and now have new batteries but can't reconnect them to the car.

How old is the car? Depending on the year the re-sync procedure changes. Later cars you just need to enter the EKA and then put the key in the ignition IIRC. Erlier ones you need to unlock and relock the drivers door or something...? It'll be in the handbook.

It does have a procedure in the handbook but it doesn't work.... Of course it could just be me being a prat. Would it be worth disconnecting the battery and start from scratch with the EKA and try it all again I wonder?

With a P38 it's always worth starting again!

Is your RF receiver connected, both power and aerial (Blue cable)?
Does the red light on key fobs flash when you press buttons?

Well RAVE says....

On vehicles from 97MY, friendly resynchronisation
was introduced on vehicles with passive
immobilisation. A remote handset that is not
synchronised to the BeCM will automatically be
resynchronised when the key is inserted in the ignition
without using the vehicle key or Emergency Key
Access (EKA) procedure.
The resynchronisation uses a pick-up coil in the
remote handset and a passive coil located around the
ignition barrel. The passive coil provides a signal for
the remote handset to transmit an unlock signal to
remobilise the vehicle.

So it looks like you just put the key in without doing the EKA dance, or locking the car first.

But it does require a connected and working RF receiver, if the aerial is disconnected it may or may not re-sync.:)

Both connected, and fob lights flash when button pressed.

Get in car close all doors, boot & bonnet, turn ignition on but don't start, turn ign. off get out with key lock closed door, press the lock button on key, unlock the door with key, press unlock button on key, if that dosn't sync. diagnostic needed or you can start all over and try again maybe from first step EKA.

Alternative is to press the designated button when turning the key in the lock.

Something found in another post:
1. turn key to position 1 five times very quickly
2. remove key
3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button.
4. If you have another key do the same button pressing within 30 seconds
5 turn on ignition to finalise

Created by Mozz:
A) Put key back in door lock to centre position
B) Press lock button and keeping it pressed so light is on Turn key left (lock) once and return to centre and release the pressel button
C) Press unlock button so light is on and keeping pressed turn key right (unlock) once and return to centre release pressel button ,, car may beep once or twice don’t worry and ignore
PART 3
a) Enter car and put key in ignition so red light on fob is viewable
b) Press ( lock ) button keeping pressed so light stays on turn key to 1st position turn back off release lock pressel
c) Press ( unlock ) button keeping pressed so light stays on turn key to 1st position turn back off release unlock pressel
You may hear more beeps ignore
NOW the car should start and all messages I,e, engine disabled and key resync should have disappeared
